Christmas Day. What excitement around our house, with three kids running around. My two youngest still believe in Santa Claus, so it is a magical day for our family. As I watched these precious gifts from God, I am reminded how blessed I am to have such beautiful, healthy children. I am also reminded of what God did for me in the form of Jesus Christ, my Saviour.
My book of poetry will be out within a month, or so. It's title is, Word Portraits, and will be available through the publisher's website, at www.publishamerica.com, or at any of the major online bookstores such as Amazon or Borders. Any of you who might be so inclined, please pray for me to get a book deal for one of my novels so that I can be home with my family.
Thank you, and God bless.

There really is no place like home. I was able to sneak by the house on Monday night before delivering a load over in Macon, Georgia Tuesday, and I picked up my youngest son. He missed a couple of days of school, but it was time well spent as he was able to ride with me the rest of the week. After leaving Macon, we picked up a load in McDonough, Georgia and hauled it up to Philly. My son had a blast, and now tells everyone that he is going to be a big truck driver when he grows up. I hope it is simply a phase he is going through.
I was not sure I would be able to get home much before Christmas Day, but fortunately I got a load heading me home yesterday, and I don't have to leave back out until Tuesday afternoon. I was able to visit with family that I have not seen in almost two years, including a great-niece that I have only had the pleasure of seeing once in her young life, and that was on the day she was born. Yes, today was certainly a great day, and I am looking forward to Christmas morning with my wife and children, reflecting on how much I have to be thankful for in my life.
Merry Christmas, and please remember, Jesus is the reason for the season.

WHAT A DAY! I got up around 4:30 this morning and drove two hundred and fifty miles to the receiver in Dayville, Ct., only to be told to come back tonight around ten PM, which I did. This place was so tight, a person would do well to be able to turn a bicycle around in, much less sleeper cab freightliner with a fifty-three foot trailer attached. Herein lies the problem. While trying to back into the dock, I became frustrated, and out of frustration is born accidents. Yes, I had my first accident since starting to drive trucks a year and a half ago. I backed into the truck parked next to the dock I was trying to back into. The damage was minor, except perhaps to my pride, and the other driver was understanding. Anyway, I will post again when I get the chance. Right now, I just want to go to sleep and forget about the events of today.

I finally made it home to Georgia late Saturday afternoon, after driving most of the previous night. Three weeks away from my family is much too long, so I have decided to begin driving on the Southeastern fleet with the same company I now work for. It will provide me with the opportunity to be home nearly every weekend, although the pay will be substantially less than what I make on the national fleet. A contributing factor to my decision was the ice storm I had to drive through in Iowa and Missouri last week. We don't get too many of those in this part of the country.
Now, I would like to get something off of my chest. In the news lately, I have heard a great deal about the Michael Richards controversy. In case you do not know, Mr. Richards played the character, Kramer, on the sitcom Seinfeld. While performing at a comedy club recently, he used the "N" word after becoming irrate toward some black hecklers in his audience. While I don't agree with Mr. Richards' comments, and at the risk of being called a racist myself, I must ask a question. Why is it that being labelled a racist in today's society is the worst possible thing that can happen to a person? I believe that one might be better off today being called a thief, a rapist, or even a murderer. God help the man that is labelled a racist.
When is our society going to move past this race issue, and realize that there will always be those among us who are racists, bigots, or just plain stupid. No amount of legislation will ever change that. Our constitution gives everyone in this country the right to say what they wish, even if it is ignorant. It does not, however, give them the right to be heard, and by elevating Mr. Richard's remarks to the level they now are has given him much more of an audience than he deserves.
With all of the serious issues facing our society in America today, I believe that we need to come together as one nation, UNDER GOD, and get back to the founding principles of our nation. If we do not do so, I have to wonder if we will survive.
